its on

Yesterday was MLK's birthday. me and nicole and ashley and deb marched from Sister's of the Road to St. Mary's Academy with a few hundred people, then went home to listen to KBOO. I passed out and in my dreams i heard MLK's speech we will overcome, which was playing on the radio at the time. In my dream I had my head in my hands and was sobbing. Stark juxtaposition with the whooping and hollering I just did as Obama became Pres. Oh man you know its on. My man Big Scott has been giving me updates from DC where he was at the mall with people from all over the nation: families and lovers, bums and heroes, wise men and fools.

I am really excited to see what the man does now that its official. First things last, close Guantanamo Bay. Today is a good day. Walk by strangers and smile. Yesterday I said hello to a cute well-dressed Asian girl and she sneered at my audacious hope. I said, one of these days I am going to learn not to say hello to girls like that, but I actually hope I never learn. Even snooty girls get my love today.

Holla!

My first thoughts when I woke up on Tuesday morning were ding dong the bush is gone, the wicked bush, the wicked bush...
He who reigned over our national travesties has finally left. Bush, with all of the callousness of the British who watched the Irish die during the great potato famine, with the obliviousness of Marie Antoinette's "let them eat cake," and the egocentric self-righteousness of all who claim to be directed by the Almighty, yes, perhaps we are free at last, free at last, thank god almighty, we are free at last.
January 20, 2009 was the day I'd been awaiting for the first four years and then the second four years.

BTW, the sublime vignette about "chocho the rebellious little goddess" will play as porn in Hawaii where "chocho" means female genitalia... but maybe you already knew that or had some Kauai experiences that could add great flavor to this evolving epic novel.

btw, if you wanna pay heed to hawaiian nicknames and rename choco... "biche"... pronounced "beesh" is a hawaiian moniker for a precocious, rebellious little sprite. someone i know has that nickname, when she hangs with her hawaiian ohana...
